An internship where I could take on what I wanted to.
During my 10-month internship, I joined a product team that's creating a cloud-based, sales planning enterprise system. From the get-go, the team encouraged me to take on the projects and responsibilities that I wanted to grow in. Below are some of those responsibilities.
Understanding the product domain
Throughout my internship, my domain knowledge rapidly grew from work with stakeholders, cross-functional partners, and other designers.
Leading user research studies
One of my goals was to improve my user research skills. During my internship, I supported 3 research studies and co-led 1 study during my internship.
Creating design system frameworks
I worked on creating a cohesive framework on how our product uses notifications. This was used by designers and developers as guidelines for features.
Workshop facilitation
I led 4 design-thinking workshops during my internship to identify growth areas for our product. I also co-led a designathon for the team!
What projects did I take on?
While my work at SAP is under NDA, here are a few projects that I worked on.
How can we enable users with a visualization of their sales planning?
I designed a calendar feature, a core component in our enterprise system, over the course of 5 months.
How can we lay the foundation for consistent notifications across our product?
I built out the design system framework for our team's use of notifications in our product.
How can we modernize the experience for users when calculations are loading?
Working closely with developers, we brainstormed ways to modernize the experience when users wait for calculations to load in our system.
How do our features come together in a cohesive prototype to show to customers?
I updated our end-to-end prototype as my starter project. This prototype was used in customer demos to show our product.
